I have been having some pretty weird dream lately and I'm starting to wonder in my self conscience is trying to tell me something. Are there any studies that could back this thought up or are dreams meaning less.

There are a lot of theories on what they mean. The one that makes the most sense to me is that dreams are just a result of the random firing of synapses in the brain. So basically, it just kind of throws random thoughts and memories together. There aren't any studies that prove that they mean something. There are like 4 or 5 theories on what they might mean because they can't really test it scientifically.

my psychology teacher says that dreams don't really mean much and that there is no way to actually prove that they do mean anything...

i'm sure there are other people who would argue that position...

but you could always go to a local bookstore or library and get a "dream dictionary".... my mom has one and its pretty cool... there's all different topics and they give you an example and an explanation of how to interpret it...

help much?

No. There are many websites and pseudoscientists that will tell you that they do. That's all crap people say to sell books. There are no legitimate scientific studies that prove that dreams have any meaning.

Yes! I own several dream books and I think that they are all valid. Check one out from your local library. Keep a dream journal. Then see if any of the interpretations make sense to you. Or you can try meditating for the interpretation.

it depends what you believe. Some people think dreams have hidden meanings. From my point of view, your dreams are what you are thinking in your mind. What is happening, what could happen, something you want etc.

Dreams have whatever meaning you assign to them. At the very least, they can serve to offer new possibilities to those stuck in a rut.

Yes, dreams mean things. My dreams tell me about stuff that happens in space. & the little green dude underneath my bed tells me to burn things..

haven't you ever heard "A dream is a wish your heart makes"? just kidding even though i really like the movie that comes from. sorry, i can't help more but i honestly think that those dreams of yours probably aren't wishes from your heart!
