Depends on what kinda friends you're looking for...
MySpace is a great place to meet people. Be careful of course, people aren't always who they say there are, but I use MySpace all the time and can say everyone I've met on there has been who they say they are, and yes they are normal every-day people. Everyone uses MySpace now in our generation. It allows you to easily perform Advanced Searches for only certain genders, age ranges, sexual preferences, etc.
If you are looking more for support, many schools, churches, and local organizations have groups for such, such as Gay-Straight Alliance, PFLAG, and so on.

I don't know where you live, but here are some ideas.
Is there a university in your area? They might have a glbt student group.
Check a local indy paper - in Western Mass, we used to have one called The Advocate - maybe there is one in your area. If so, it might list a glbt teen support group.
How's your school? Do you have a good relationship with a guidance counselor? If so, s/he might have some ideas.
I live in a small town rural area now, and I'm not sure how gay teens find one another here.
Good luck!

Being a teenager in itself is an awkward and stress full time to begin with. First check to see if your high school or school board has any social groups, if not your cities web page should have something and if not them a crisis line would be helpful to steer you to the right support numbers and area. Good luck and be safe!!

If your school is big enough they may have a group. Now I may get totally slammed for this, but you may want to look into joining your schools theatre group. (hey, it worked for me!) Just keep your eyes and ears open at school!
