No. Although we are similar to animals on multiple levels, our "sense of being," makes us as remote from the animals as they are to plants. A dog, no matter how loving, loyal, and wonderful, has no sense of "I." Nor does a chimp. They cannot question or ponder their existence. This strange quality sets us apart from all other life as we know it.
