Ya, I can give you two. In 7th an 8th Grade I submitted science projects for the Cleveland/Northeastern Ohio science fair. There were about 500 finalists. In 7th grade I won 10th place and the next year I won the whole thing! Here were my ideas:
In 7th grade I researched microwaves and their affect on the temperature of donuts. Why? I wanted to discover if microwaves would warm items with a high sugar content. If you have ever burnt yourself on a pop-tart or heated donut, you'll know what I mean. I found the results to be quite surprising.
My 1st place 8th Grade Project entailed me taking water samples from various spots along the Cuyahagua River (the main river that flows in to Lake Erie) and testing them for their cleanliness. I wanted to see the affects certain businesses had on the water supply and how clean the water actually was near fisheries and just drinking water in general. I analyzed about 20 spots, concentrating on the water's PH levels and the water's Phosphate and Nitrate content (items commonly found in fertilizers). The judges literally ate it up! Perhaps you can win our science fair with one of these ideas too!
