No, you get to keep the actual card, it's your responsibility not to use it to drive, that's all.

you'll most likely have to surrender you license at the hearing. it's meant to impress you with the fact that it is a privilege to drive granted to you by the municipality. if you think this is an inconvenience, you don't really know the meaning of the word until you've been caught driving with a suspended license. tough out the sentence, it will be over before you know it and the rest of the driving community will be glad to welcome back a more responsible driver.

My sons are 15 (9-10-ninety one), they have their newbies allow now. they're taking drivers education in college now, so no you do not should be 18. regardless of the indisputable fact that, in a good number of states, in case you stop college or do not carry a minimum of a C generic, your license should be revoked.

They will send you a letter giving you so many days to surrender your license to the department of motor vehicles if they do not receive it the will send an officer to your house to get it and you will receive an additional citation.
They may require you to take special driver safety training and pass tests prior to returning your license to you at the end of the suspension period.

I live in IL and when they suspended my dad's drivers license they did keep and gave it back when he presented himself in court and paid a fee. But maybe the law differs from state to state.
