They absolutely should not be banned for the precise reason you mentioned. Sure, we know that they're usually full of crap and aren't worth the web page that they're posted on, but we can't ban em'.

Polls are manipulative at best and, depending on the wording of the questions included, and the actual respondents who participated, there are too many factors to consider them reliable without these aspects being released with the release of the poll results. Also who paid for the poll to be conducted as well and what the political motivations are of those who own the company that produced the poll?
The real question is why are polls so important to release that we risk projecting results rather than simply reporting the news? Why does the media never fully engage the story about how the Federal Reserve is a privately owned corporation? Where did any sense of journalism go?

I can see your point on the free speech issue. But political polls are more about opinion than results. It is a fact polls only contain a small margin of people and are usually pertaining to a certain criteria.
Example......
If you ask 30 democrats who they want for senate odds are they will say a democrat not the independant or republican candidate.

Poll results can vary widely depending on how the question is asked.
Ex: Do you want the troops home? Overwhelmingly yes.
Would you turn your back on the innocent people of Iraq and cut and run? Probably 75% would answer No.

Polls don't necessarily need to be banned but they need to be revealed for what they are. They are BS I don't know anyone that has ever been polled I know I haven't. They basically mean very little and news media uses them to promote their ideas and candidates.

Can't say I agree with you. Violates free speech. Oh, you're for free speech. Gotta say I agree with you. Why- Er, duh, you got me there.
ps What's a political poll? Are you talking interference in the due process?

It's a known fact that the media helps manipulate poll results, so they are not always accurate.
