I think the best movies are the ones from way back, when actors actually HAD TALENT!!! Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Jaws, all the Indiana Jones movies, Star Wars (oldschool), Patton, Rocky, Singin' in the Rain, Philidelphia, Phanton of the Opera..... musicals are always up top of the list...same goes for anything Hepburn, Gable, Sinatra, Bogart, Brando, Hitchcock, Kelly, Beatty....to name a few! I wish movies were as powerful now like they werethen without all the foul garbage and pointless crap.

I go with a three-way tie -
MacBeth - the 1948 Orson Welles version - beacuse it's breath-taking to watch - it looks like a charcol drawing come to life and Welles does a great job of bringing the Scottish Play to life - but it's also a testament to great film-making, when you factor in that the film was made for like $6 and a handshake, on the backlot of Republic Pictures - which usually made westerns. Amazing film.
Malcolm X - because it is a perfect film. There is nothing wrong or faulty in the movie - a textbook example of everything right and correct about film-making - every single frame of the film is perfect in every way - the script, the direction, the acting, the set design, the wardrobe, the cinematography, the sound, the editiing - perfect.
Mulholland Drive - David Lynch's career in film has involved, with his better films - explorations of dreams - Eraserhead, Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, INLAND EMPIRE - but in Mulholland Drive, he managed perfection in filming dreams. Like the aforementioned films, Mulholland Drive can be called a filmed dream, but it stands out as a perfect example of filming a dream.

The illusionist was excellent. Oh and what about an oldie one flew over the coo coo's nest, and the shining. There are too many movies to mention . Has anyone seen Young Adam= ewin mcgregor was too hot!!!!! watch it it's very seductive.

Toss up between It's A Wonderful Life (the original black and white version) and Parenthood (with Steve Martin and an all star cast, at least in my eyes). I know some would consider them "feel good movies" but I appreciate movies that take you through all sorts of emotions and both of those really do this for me.

Gone With The Wind hands down. It has some of the best lines in movie history not to mention it was the first movie that used a curse word..Rhett Butler's famous line to Scarlett O'Hara.."Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

GOODFELLAS........... This is a movie that appeals to everyone. My wife loves it and she hates gangster movies. It's the sort of movie you can watch over and over and still catch something new.
If you have not yet seen it, go out and buy a copy.

It's definitely
Jesus Christ and the Passion.
Just watch the movie, feel the pain that Jesus felt, and then you'll know why it's the best movie of all time.
