It should be capitalized only when used as a proper name, like Los Angeles High School, or Houston High School. You wouldn't capitalize it on it's own; use lower case here. For instance, "yesterday I attended my friend's high school prom".

depends how you use it

The high school is around the corner.

Yonkers High School is around the corner.

The first one can be any high school and dose not need to be capitalized.

The second is referring to a specific high school and is part of the title so it needs to be capitalized.

Only if used with a specific high school name, such as "Franklin High School," "the Podunk High School Raiders," etc. Not when just used as "my high school," "the high school football team," etc.

If you are referring to a specific high school, such as, "I graduated from Kennedy High School," it is capitalized.

If you are just referring to high school in general, as in, "I hated high school," you don't capitalize.
