They are citizens, and therefore have all the rights the constitution gives everyone. But in schools, students are constantly oppressed....no cussing (what the hell is that about!?!?), uniforms, no bringing any electronics on campus, allowing staff members to search and seize student backpack and items without a warrant, etc....
WHY is this injustice allowed to continue!?!?

Firstly, whoever said I was a child?

Anyways, the great thing about america is that all citizens are supposed to be treated fairly.

If it's for our own good, then why do people complain that the government is doing warrentless wiretapping? It is for our own good, but you have people demanding impeachment of the president. There are people in guantanamo being held without trial, and it's for our own good, but there are people calling for their releasement.

Adults aren't so responsible either. Most criminals are adults, so should all the adult's rights be withheld also?
I think not.

Um, it's called a college......they choose to go there and obey the rules of the campus......it has nothing to do with government......and if you're talking about High School, they don't have the same rights as adults because they are still dependants of their parents.

It is assumed that most juveniles do not have the same intellectual capacity, life experience and good judgment that adults have. I am certain however that we could easily find exceptions to that generalization on both sides of the fence.

It's kind of a social line in the sand. I believe that these laws were made as a protection for children, in particular child labor laws, laws about sexual conduct with minors for their protection and probably some other things. So while you may not have as many "rights" you also have some additional protection, whether you care or not ... I guess the government doesn't really take into consideration your opinion. The stuff that you are talking about in schools... like searching your stuff is done because of what happened in Columbine, CO for one thing. People are frightened and trying to do what they believe will help protect themselves and other students. Do you think it can't happen at your school? So, I guess you are just gonna have to deal with it.

1. Cussing in a public setting (or anywhere for that matter) is inappropriate and unnecessary. Increase your vocabulary by studying, and you'll find you WON'T HAVE TO CUSS in order to properly and eloquently express yourself. Any adult knows this.

2. I don't know what kind of uniform you have to wear, but "dressing for success" is VERY adult-like. Embrace it! Chances are when you're finally interviewing for that professional job that will afford you to own a house and a car someday... you won't be wearing baggy pants half-way down, or a hoodie sweatshirt. You'll be wearing a suit. Trust me on that.

3. School is a place for learning. It is not a place to listen to your ipod, play your video games or text your friends. Education is NOT something that happens to you; rather, it is something you MAKE HAPPEN.

4. Lastly... to be honest with you, I'm not sure about the "search and seize" thing you have going on, so I won't comment on that. But I can say that your reputation is the most important thing you can cultivate.

Teachers really ARE working for your best interest! They try to prepare you for the world that goes beyond the four walls of a school. It is a world where propriety takes precedence over apathy. It is a world where discipline and intelligence eventually become your shield. It is a world where those who are most prepared, most educated and most grateful to the learning process excel.

Best of luck to you.
From a teacher.

well, i think they uniform part and no cursing is to prepare students for the work world because its not like professionals wear sweats to work and curse people out. but students are still maturing, and they can't exactly focus all of their attention on the task at hand (learning) and therefore would tend to use electronics to escape from this workload, eventually bringing about failure. Basically, we're distracted easily. Although, i do agree that it is a violation of rights to have backpacks and stuff searched, but i guess its just for the safety of students. I mean, they also have random searches in the office when there is a suspicion. So i guess each side can be argued ..

Because you're a kid. Your job is to gain an education until such time as you are fully capable of moving out of your home, getting a job, paying all of your own bills, and being a productive member of society. At 18, you gain those rights you want, along with all the responsibilities that come with them. But the fact is, you won't be taken seriously as an adult until you are 25.

Because most 14 year olds don't have the capacity to think as an adult.

Since most kids can't either: drive, get a job, support a family, etc.., they will have to livea few years without responsibilities that adults get.

My suggestion:

Deal with it. Life's not always fair.

Most work places have some sort of dress code rules governing behavior and restrictions about what you can bring to work. Maybe they are trying to get you ready to be and adult and not to act like a spoiled 14 year old.

if said issues had not caused problems in the first place, there would not be rules governing them.
school is a place to get an education.....rules help make that possible.

And like Host says...Life ain't fair...get over it.

Because little boy, until you are an adult, someone still has to babysit you. So, grow up and quit acting like a spoiled brat and maybe, just maybe, you may grow into a fine adult.
