I actually got my first taste of Swahili by borrowing a record (yes, it was a vinyl) from my local library. You might try something similar. In the last few years they may have even upgraded to CDs or DVDs.

If you just need greetings, the Lonely Planet guidebooks have some very helpful phrases to learn, though they aren't always correct. With regard to teaching, do you want to learn anything in particular? My Swahili was pretty good a couple years ago, but lack of use has made it a little rusty.

I may be sadly mistaken, as my info is admittedly very sketchy. Years ago there was a WWF wrestler named the Ugandan Giant. He'd come to the ring, yelling some gibberish in some wacky language.

I remember looking up uganda, and I recall laughing because it said the official language of Uganda is English!!!

Could be totally wrong, but hey, maybe you're all set!!!
