I mean is it because there are more caucasian people than african americans and hispanics and that is where the term minorities comes into play? Is the term minorities politcally correct in this day and age????

Its used to represent a lower count in the total numbers....even Caucasians are now minorities.......Hispanics have have the title of majority for a few years now.....hence: all the immigration hoopla

Also the Native Americans, Asian-Americans (of which there are many individual groups), Alaskan Natives, Hawaiian Natives, and probably a whole lot more that we're overlooking right now.
The term minorities is probably not going to be politically correct for long--if it even is now. There are not a great deal more Caucasian Americans anymore--for that matter, the Caucasian may already be very close to a minority.

Heh, its funny someone is asking that. I feel like the term "minority" died out for me. But just to clarify, a minority in this nation is anyone who isnt Caucasian, so...African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian, Native-American, Arab, and so forth are minorities.
