Unless you EXCELL incollege the general rule of thumb is
4 Years in a pre-med major (Bio Chemistry, Bio Physics, etc.)
4 years in med school
1 year internship
3 years minimum residence in surgery 4 to 5 for board certification.
YOu looking at 12-15 years
YOu can cut this time frame down a little if you go to summer school or a college on the quarter system and take 4 quarters a year.

Four years of college. Four years of Medical School. Two years of residency. Then, apprenticeship, Board Study and exams.
Including secondary education, K-12, you are talking about 23 years of school, then apprenticeship as long as you need.
Not to discourage you, but surgeon is the most competitive area of medicine. Once you get to Medical School, only the top doctors can become surgeons. They make the most money.
I believe Cardio is the top, then Neuro.

Depends on what type of Surgeon you wan't to become.
I plan on Majoring on Cardio Vascular Surgery, which might take about 7- 13 years, depends on what programs you go and what your pace is in university.
Get certified, and be the best you can be !!
