I am doing a sociological research for my class. It has to do with kids - I have none so I was wondering if you parents out their would be able to help me.
The number of couples not having children is slowly rising. As a parent, what do you think of couples who decide not to have any kids?

People that decide not to have children I say it great! I would rather they not have children than to have them and regret they have the kids.
I can understand how people invest a whole lot of time in their career and don't want to have the additional pressure of having kids. That's their choice and I honor their choice. Hey, that's what America is all about.
Now, having said that, I think that many of these same couples will look back one day and regret their decision. Kids are a pain when they are very, very young, but they turn into real people and they are just fantastic to be around. When we had our kid its like we saw the whole world differently their our child's eyes. Its a feeling that makes you feel so darn good. Having a great kid is a bonus on top of that feeling.
I hope I've helped.

I have a 5 year old and I have 2 older family members who never had children. Honestly, I'm sad for them. My Aunt who's husband just passed never had children and she is kind of all on her own. Of course she has us but we are states away and nieces are not the same as daughters. Who takes care of you when you get old? Who do you pass things on to, physically and figuratively? It's just such an amazing experience to create and grow with a child and know that you will be leaving them behind to carry on your legacy. But, to each his own I guess. I've noticed a lot more people only having 1 child, instead of the multi children families that seemed so prevalent when I was younger. Though that may just be my surrroundings. Good luck with class.

1. If people don't think they are capable of being good parents, or don't like children, etc., then I'm glad they've made the choice not to procreate.
Unfortunately, 2., most Western civilisations are at a zero population growth cycle, which means we are not breeding (sounds terrible, but you know what I mean) enough children to financially support our civilisation. There's lots of literature on the perils of the current trend of zero population - well worth reading. If more of us are only having one child, or none, then our society is at risk.

i am a mother of one, who wants a couple more but i will wait till after i am married this time (which will be in about 4 months) but i think if the couple doesn't want kids then it is their decision and not anyone elses...some people just dont want to raise kids or cant have them or just simply dont want to have any.....that is their life and they can do what they want with it.

people have there own reasons for having or not having kids. there is nothing wrong with people who want to have kids, or the ones who don't want any. it's a choice, it's not law that all couples should have kids.

As we towards 2020, now days parents whom decide to have children the want to plan 1st. Coz they wants their children to have the best. so financial is also 1 of it to decide whether parents wants children.
Another scenario either 1 of them cannot produce it. I mean health wise.
And lastly all of them have their own view.

well i think that is smart. why have kids if you don't want them. on the other hand they will be very lonely in the long run, i know this guy who's mom died and they didn't even have a funeral, cuz he was the only son and there was no other family.

It's entirely their choice but I think it's kind of shallow and sad.
I have five kids and couldn't imagine life without any of them. They've definitely been the highlight of my life and you can learn as much from your kids as you can teach them.

some couples i know can't have any and some who don't.
i think the ones who don't want to have children can be selfish, don't want the responsibility of raising, and enjoy life without them
