2006 Teens' Top Ten Nominees
The Teens' Top 10 books are nominated by teens nation-wide. Readers aged twelve to eighteen voted during Teen Read Week in October 2006. The ten winning titles:
Bowen, 'Asta - Wolf: The Journey Home
Teen Reviewer: "It's so unique to have a book focus on animals in such a way, without being the biography of a pet or "furry fantasy" such as Brian Jacques's Redwall series (though I am a fan of both of those types, as well). Not all teen books have to be about teens." (YA Fic)
Bray, Libba - Rebel Angels
Teen Reviewer: The story is so beautiful; a girl becoming a woman and her journey there. The Realm is wonderfully complex and has thrilling aspects to it. It was a GREAT read. Libba Bray did a wonderful job. It is hard to make a sequel that is as good as the original." (YA Fic M)
Brian, Kate - Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys
Teen Reviewer:" I really enjoyed it. It's kind of funny, has a little bit of romance, and great advice! It made me laugh on the first page." (YA Fic)
Dowswell, Paul - Powder Monkey: Adventure of a Young Sailor
Teen Reviewer: "If you love books about ships nd pirates and everything related to them. It is a compelling story about a young boy and all he has to go through with the seas." (YA Fic)
Gardner, Sally - I, Coriander
Teen Reviewer: "It stayed suspenseful until the very last paragraph. It's also one of the best blending of reality & fantasy that I've ever read." (Juv Fic SF)
Hart, J.V. - Captain Hook: The Adventures of a Notorious Youth
Teen Reviewer: "Wonderful to hear from the villain for once. It's a book full of adventure & villainry, & a dash of romance." (YA Fic)
Johnson, Maureen - 13 Little Blue Envelopes
Teen Reviewer: "I thought the most compelling aspect was where all the letters were and what they revealed." (YA Fic)
Jones, Patrick - Nailed
Teen Reviewer: "I was impressed with how it captures the life of how the average teen feels, especially about jocks. It has a lot of detail and it's easy to picture what happens. There are a lot of things 'suggested' that make you stop to think." (YA Fic)
Kantor, Melissa - If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince?
Teen Reviewer: "An intensely satisfying story with a wonderful, believable cast of characters. Sitting in class, I has to stifle my giggles." (YA Fic)
Krovatin, Christopher - Heavy Metal and You
Teen Reviewer: "Heavy Metal and You is a great testament to a much less written about type of character. Most main characters in YA fiction today are noble and kind or utterly preppy and girl-power-ish. I liked Sam Markus because he isn't the kind of character I usually read about." (YA Fic)
Meyer, Stephanie - Twilight
Teen Reviewer:" This is the kind of book that will haunt you. I could not get myself out of the book. For days I was dreaming about the characters, thinking about the episodes & imagining my own sequel. These characters are so real, even the vampires." (YA Fic M)
Noel, Alyson - Art Geeks and Prom Queens
Teen Reviewer: "It's a really girly book, and it reflects how many teen girls are. It relates to how so many high school girls want to fit in but lose their identity in the process. It teaches you to be yourself. You don't need to change to make someone else happy." (YA Fic)
Oppel, Kenneth - Skybreaker
Teen Reviewer: "Nonstop action and an air of mystery in this sci-fi fantasy. A great plot and electric squids add to the suspense." (Juv Fic SF)
Paolini, Christopher - Eldest
Teen Reviewer: "It is an exciting, action packed book with some drama scenes and a lot of suspense." (Juv Fic SF)
Peters, Julie Ann - Far From Xanadu
Teen Reviewer: "The girl on the front cover was intriguing & it reflected the contents well. I would tell a friend it was a wonderful love story about accepting who you are and finding your true love." (YA Fic)
Reiss, Kathryn - Blackthorn Winter
Teen Reviewer: "A great mystery with several plots woven together very well. The marvelous setting was compelling. I felt for certain that I was there the whole time, drinking tea." (YA Fic M)
Rowling, J.K. - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Teen Reviewer: "Harry Potter takes on a whole new dimension - it's no longer a children's story. I felt I was living right alongside Harry, feeling his emotions." (Juv Fic SF)
Thal, Lilli - Mimus
Teen Reviewerr: "The plot is like a chess game, and the jester is the chess "Master." I loved every word of it." (YA Fic)
Westerfeld, Scott - Peeps
Teen Reviewer: "A vampire story that is eerily possible mixed with frightfully real parasites." (YA Fic M)
Whitcomb, Laura - A Certain Slant of Light
Teen Reviewer: "It's a ghost story and a romance. This very original book is extremely hard to put down." (YA Fic M)
Wooding, Chris - Poison
Teen Reviewer: "Fans of Chris Wooding's previous book won't be disappointed, as Poison is full of thrills and intrigue. It throws together fairytale creatures, scheming courtiers, cobwebbed castles, and a spunky human girl for one amazing read." (YA Fic M)
Zevin, Gabrielle - Elsewhere
Teen Reviewer: "Elsewhere shows that a person's "self" does not die when the body does. It's an unexpectedly "feel good" book, & makes the reader feel like those who have died aren't ever gone. It's such an interesting read. It makes you think what will happen next." (Juv Fic SF)

I have TWO series.
-Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling.
awsome and very nail-biting. has an essence of magic and fantasy.
-The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer.
one word: vampire. what happens when you fall in love with a totally handsome vampire? werewolfs and vampires and romance grace the pages of this wonderful series. "who's of afraid of the big bad wolf?" quoted from Jacob Black in the 2nd book, New Moon. The first book is "twilight" and third and fourth one are under contract. its so awsome!
