Vincent D'Onofrio has appeared in many roles where people don't recognize him. A lot of this is because of make-up, but most of it is due to his ability to fluctuate his weight.
He used to be most famous for playing Leonard Laurence "Pvt. Gomer Pyle" in Full Metal Jacket.
He was Orson Welles in Ed Wood.
He played the Bug in Men in Black.
He might be one of the most talented actors out there, and he relies heavily on the fact that he can play new characters without being typecast, because he is never spotted by anyone but his bigger fans.

Vincent D'Onofrio .. I saw it on Vh1's what they did before they where stars on tv last weekend...he was on there and it said he played Thor in that movie.
