Hi, I'm planning to become a geological engineer...I was wondering would a Geological Engineer be able to work in the oil industry?

No and Yes. A petroleum engineer is just about the same as a chemical engineer and they work primarily at refineries and work in the processing end of the oil industry.

Geologist work in the production (drilling) and exploration (where to drill) end of the industry. As I understand when oil prices are high there is a lot of exploration going on and a high demand for geologist.
