I have so much 2 tell you!! The thing i had the most trouble with was i was too shy! i was afraid to get in there and play, so i decided to just stand to the side...BIG NO NO. That was the worst mistake i have made, i went on doing this for a long time, not relizing the impact it has on my team. After a while i felt more confident, now i'm one of the star players on the basketball team. BE CONFIDENT! Another good thing to rememeber is if you used to playing one posistion, its ok to venture out and try new things. and don't feel restricted to the person your garding, if a person on your team needs help, go help, you just need to be quick O i almost forgot when your man has the ball and they pick up their dribble, scream "ball, ball, ball" over and over again.. It pressures them into passing, and plus its quite fun to watch the other team struggle, while your screaming in their ear. Always be quick, beat your man 2 the basket, REMEMBER: be confident, AND PRACTICE, PRACTICE , PRACTICE!!! i have lots more to tell you but i g2g!! hope i helped!!

First, don't freak out about it. Remember, not everybody was meant to be good at something, and just because you love it or want to do it doesn't necessarily mean you'll ever be good at it. Some people are just naturals, and some people develop into good players with hard work and determination. At your level, there is no real need or pressure. Maybe a reason you're not good at it is because you don't like it all that much, and that will be fine too. Just focus on what your position does, listen to your coach, watch some basketball games on tv, and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Good luck!

in a game, theres gonna be a lot of running, so drink plenty of water.
always focus and know where the ball is at all times.
there is a point guard, a guard, center, and foward. the point guard is like the playmaker. she/he controls where the ball would go to. the guard helps out the point guard. the center also helps out the point guard, and also controls where the ball goes to to. forward is at the side and can shoot or dribble towards the basket and help make a baseket.
if you try to shoot, but the opposing player touches your arm, to get the ball, it is a foul. you shoot 2 shots from the free throw line, but try not to cross the line, or else it is a violation. if you get fouled on the 3 pointer line, you get to shoot 3 baskets.
`dont worry, its pretty easy once you get the hang of it
~try and watch basketball games to try and get an idea of how to play.

well to get good at basketball you need to practice. its plain and simple. when you practice be sure to consentrate on the the area you want to play. for example guards should learn to dribble without looking at the ball, and should have a pretty effective shot. a bigger person should learn how to post up and learn a midrange jumper. The most important thing though is to get endurance. if you have endurance you can play longer than the other players getting more opportunities to steal the ball and make easy layups. if you want to learn the basics i suggest you go to ehow.com they will teach you anything from shooting, dribbling and dunking

when you step out of the out line, your out, even if 1 foot is in, or if your shoe touches it. a shooting foul is when you push, or move someone when they shoot. a technical foul is when you pull someones jersey. defense if when the other team is trying to make a basket. offense is when your team is trying to make a basket. traveling is when you take two steps without dribbling. double dribble is when you dribble with two hands or stop dribbling and pick it up and then dribbling again. a layup is when you dribble up to the basket and shoot it, but not stopping. you cant be in the key more than 3 seconds when you are on offense, but you can be in there for as long as you want when you are defending. the key is the U thing. press is when a team is taking it out on the other half of the court, and you are trying to get the ball from them. you can only save the ball from going out if your foot doesnt touch the out line, then you can reach out and save the ball, but only if it didnt touch the out ground yet. (notice my best answer percent...=( a jump ball is when you are fighting for the ball against two players. each point is worth two. a rebound is when you try to catch the ball after it bounced off the rim, HOPED THIS HELPED!

for beginners, practice the basics and start by getting comfortable with the motions of dribbling, shooting, AND [more advanced]catching or passing or dribbling (what else, oh, shooting) while running. don't go for 3 point lines at first, learn lay-ups first, and shoot from range that you feel comfortable and get good at it. Dont worry about hook shots or other fancy moves - of course u could be talented to do it well - but most people don't.

Focus on what your position does. For example, forwards and centers in a motion offense usually run a hook or triangle route, setting picks for the guards. You also have to box out to get rebounds. When you are a guard, throw it off to the other guard, penetrate, or pass it to the forward.

Dribble the ball as much as you can and alternate with the left and right. The more you do it, the more you get use to it and it gets much much easier. You'll be able to juke your opponents with ball handling skills.
