i have to be a maid in a school play. what should i wear?

well i have to do this play for my school and i got the part of the maid/housekeeper. i need to know what to wear for the part. the play takes place early 20 century in england.

any more advice what to wear would be aprreciated and help where i should go for cheap prices would be good also.

also any extras i should get like jewlery etc etc

i would wear a long black dress and a white apron also with pearl earrings. but thats just me

Obviously it will depend on the play and what you are doing. For example if is set in the morning you would be cleaning so a plain grey or light blue dress with a plain (no frills) apron and maybe a mob cap would be appropriate. If in the evening or you are serving at a table, a long black dress ,long sleeves white collar and cuffs and a fancier apron and cap. I once worked as a maid in a private hotel and we had three basic uniforms, morning (when we cleaned the rooms) plain pink dress and grey aprons afternoon was for lighter cleaning in public areas we wore a 3/4 length black dress and plain white bib apron, plain white cap, for the evenings in the dining room we wore full length black dress white collar and cuffs, white lace cap and full length pinafore style apron.
