A ton of my dreams just involve me picking up girls.

And what happens in reality? Insulted, rejected, and not even liked by a lot of girls.

As a matter of fact, I don't think a girl liked me for who I am. Or really liked me in that matter.

In my dreams, I'm no longer Sean, I'm my alter ego, Z. Z is a guy who is liked by many. He gets the girls, and he is also quite smart.

Z is just the better looking version of me: brown hair, 5'8, really muscular, and an overall nice guy.

I always dream of being Z, no, letting Z out. But I'm not muscular, I don't have brown hair, and I'm not 5'8. The only true thing is that I'm real nice and smart.

But my dreams, they're just that. Dreams. Nothing but figures of my imagination. I'm also quite unlucky when it comes to asking girls out. They always just want to be friends or are already taken by guys that aren't me.

So is there something wrong with my mind? I'm almost 13, by the way.

Well, when you get about 16 to 21 years of age, you'll have a lot better luck in reality.

What you are dreaming about is fairly common. You feel inferior as a person and insecure but your dreams represent a part of who you want to be. When you say dreams are you talking dreaming at night or just day dreaming? Daydreams often include purposely fantasy but night dreams are much harder to control or alter (unless you have learned the art of lucid dreaming - too long to discuss here). You obviously feel very down about yourself and rejected but just because some girls don't go out with you doesn't mean you are not likeable or worthwhile as a person. I'll you this. When I was your age (and I'm female) I always went for the popular jock and so did my girlfriends. It's what happens alot and its stupid. Many girls overlook personality and the more important parts of a person and end up going for the "cute jock" because its like they have won a contest or something. Kids your age can be really cruel; I remember how it was at that age and its real hard. People can sometimes be real jerks, even much older people, but don't let your peers make you feel bad about yourself. Many of the jocks I dated in jr high and high school ended up flunking out of college and becoming drug addicts or real losers. Sometimes people are not as great as we think they are, just keep that in mind.

Don't beat yourself up over this. Almost 13 is a really tough age. Don't rush things. Hormones are mostly responsible for how you dream right now, and that'll bother you for a while. You have my sympathy, but you need to develop your skills--social ones, especially. How you relate to people and make friends. Now is the time to lay the foundation for what you need to get what you're dreaming about.

Your are still young. You will still grow and have time to build those muscles. If girls don't like that way you are, they are not worth your attention then. They should accept you for what you are. If they try to change you, then you are not Sean anymore and it's not good. In time, those things will come true. Focus on improving yourself. = )

Oh, Sean. In only 5 years you will make Z look like an amateur. You will be taller. Your hair can be any color you chose. The body comes from diet and exercise. And the ladies ... they will be charmed by your personality.

wow... and i thought you were older than 13... but just at age 12, you're kid, and you should enjoy being a kid first before going about finding love... you won't get the experience of a kid anymore... but if you're the impatient kind, well keep trying then. as you get older, the time will come along and soon enough you'll meet someone special.

If you are currently experiencing sadness your wishful dreams may be an attempt to compensate and to comfort you.
