Only 13% of Congressional Republicans believe that global warming is man made.
Are the majority of Republicans in Congress brain dead ? maybe that's the question I should be asking.

While I believe we are definitely causing a temperature increase, the fact that this is making headlines is due to the politics involved. It is yet another Democratic attempt to undermine the Republicans any way they can (perhaps rightfully so? That's a whole 'nother discussion...). There are FAR more pressing issues than global warming, that if not dealt with, will render global warming the last thing we as humans should worry about. For now, it's media hype and political. That does not mean it does not exist nor does it mean it does not have to be dealt with; it merely means that one political party is using their influence, both political and through the media (much of news media is mainly liberal/Democratic in nature), to acheive power.

actually its because most of them have actually done research on the subject other than just watching "an inconvenient truth" there are numerous studies and numerous scientists that do not believe in global warming. maybe its because people like al gore go around touting the evils of global warming while flying to Europe and asia on his private jet then telling us we are evil for flying commuter airlines to often. maybe its because they have been around when al gore and all his global warming cronies pull up in front of a building or hotel in a line of excursions or expeditions, to give a speech on how we should all drive hybrid cars. maybe its because the temperature of the earth has fluctuated throughout time up and down again. it could be because the earth has been experiencing a continuous upward trend since the revolutionary war, long before the industrial revolution. it could be that for most of us it is a little hard to swallow that during the election in 2000 global warming was not a real important issue and did not seem to be anything of concern then in 2006 all the sudden we are all doomed, with only ten years till we pass the point of no return. it could be because we it has been shown that volcanoes other natural phenomena produce upwards of ten times the greenhouse gases that humans do. maybe its because whether you are Wiccan, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or anything in between you have been taught that there is a higher power that controls everything with a master plan. many call it god many call it mother nature but they all tend to believe the same basic things. al gore claims to be christian, yet touts his global warming stance, even though the Bible say that the rainbow is a symbol of Gods promise never to destroy the earth with a flood ever again. this "christian" has apparently forgotten that the Bible says that God will destroy the earth with fire the second time. the majority of republicans are christians )or at least claim to be.) maybe it is because many of the republicans feel it is a little presumptuous to think that man has the power to destroy the earth. maybe its because only in the last few months with nothing else to fall back on, no real rallying cry to fall around, nothing new to say, the democrats of the USA have taken to the global warming trend. it all just seems a little to convenient to swallow hole without doing any more research. then upon further investigation we find the scientist who do not agree with the popular global warming theory, yet they are ignored by news organizations who have been open democrats for a very long time. the leader of the pack says "beware global warming" and they all follow suit. they ignore the scientist that have evidence that debunks global warming. if you do your research you would find that there is research out there that show global warming to be nothing more than a few unrelated events that are a natural part of the ever changing climate of the world. of course i am not a scientist, but i am a thinker.

The "facts" of global warming are more like opinions. It is a very popular opinion, but not without it's scientific detractors. Global warming is not as cut and dried as the media and others would have us believe. Google it! In fact, the scientific community is more divided than reported. Global warming is more politically popular than scientifically. It is being used to push a jealous world policy upon US citizens. I am surprised that more government officials are unable to think for themselves. Our planet has warmed and cooled many times over many thousands of years. Now must we argue about humans causing some of it? I agree we must find ways to lower our impact on the earth, but not at the cost of US freedoms and liberties. These issues can co-exist together.

Likely because they don't have enough proof to believe that humans can affect the planet. If one wishes to present a convincing argument, one must back up his assertions with PURE FACT, and enough of it to decisively demonstrate why one is right. You can't just go around telling people, "Stop using gasoline because I'm a scientist and I have a theory that it's wreaking havoc on the planet!" There isn't enough solid evidence yet to prove that humans are changing Earth's climates; please look for it before you go slapping me in the face with it.

I do believe that the planet is changing; I doubt humans can truly affect it to the extent many think we can. My personal theory holds about as much water (very little), but only because I don't have proof: either the Sun is becoming more active and thus putting out more heat, or the Earth is moving closer to our star. Or both. It really doesn't matter. Stop hating humans for existing and try to find evidence that our activities are really destroying the planet. Please. Then, and only then, will I begin to listen to those who outright support or deny global warming; I listen to fact, not celebrities.

Republicans don't credit themselves with enough power to impact global warming, and nor should they. The cycle of cooling and warming is as old as the earth itself; it will continue with or without us.

There has been a 1°F - 2°F warming of the global climate during the past 150 years. A small part of that warming could relate to the minuscule amount of CO2 in the atmosphere created by humans, or it could be one of the logical reasons listed below:

1. The planet earth is still coming out of a 90,000 year glacial period and warming during the recent 10,000 to 15,000 years is a natural result. (Without such change in warming, we would still be in an ice age.)
2. The sun and its electromagnetic output has been increasing in recent times, providing additional warmth for the earth.
3. Changes in ocean currents.
4. Changes in the salinity of the ocean.
5. Changes in atmospheric circulation, water vapor and jet streams

A significant role for humans in global warming is NOT a scientifically proven fact. Recent conclusions of government committees do not equal 'real science'. This issue is a FAD and deserves to be treated as such until the legitimate scientific community concludes, using proper scientific processes and debate, that it is true.

Because it's pure junk science. Global warming is occuring but it's part of a natural process and calamity is not in the future. When I was a kid, it was the new ICE AGE that was the huge problem of our time environmentally, and the same people who spread that crap are the ones who are speading this crap.

If every single person on earth burned everything they owned and opened up their gas line and lit it on fire, then went to the gas station and burned all the gas there, how many degrees would the Globe warm? How much of a green house affect would this have in the next 50 years? What about cutting down trees?

Should I ask the question that if it is man made what do dems think can be done about it?
Are you going to stop China and Russia from polluting?
