Cashews cost $13.00/lb and pecans are $11.25. The amount of pecans is 3 pounds less than the amount of cashews. How many of each would be packed into a $136.00 gift box?

i need to know how to get the equaison and then how to solve it then the answers to go along with that

There are 7# of cashews.
Let x = #Cashews
Therefore (x - 3) = # of pecans
13 x + 11.25(x - 3) = 136
24.25 x - 33.75 = 136
24.25 x = 169.75
x = 7

answer is 7lb of cashews and 4lb of pecans

Solve equation 13X + (X-3)(11.25) = 136
X = 7
