I have noticed that over the last day or so that my son's cheek have become very very red, he is also very cranky. He is just about 4 months old. We both just got over a bad cold and now his cheeks, could it be from teething or is he still sick?

I've noticed this the past day or so also, I think it has to do with the weather. Really. The redness comes and goes, so if you have something that really looks like a rash, I would look into it more.

My son got this when he ws teething it went away soon after though.
He also gets red cheeks when he's been crying or gets himself worked up. I've seen him sleeping when it's a bit warm and only his cheeks are red also.
If he's relaly fussy I'd say check out his teeth first, second make a visit to your peds office just to see what else it could be. Dry skin can also make skin rashes break out even if it's only in one place.
Good luck, don't stress.

It's possible he has Fifth disease, esp. if he comes into contact with older kids like preschool/elementary age at all. It's in the measles/chicken pox family and there's nothing they can do for it. It gives a rash that first looks like the child has been slapped in both cheeks, and then it spreads all over so the child looks severly sunburned. I've not heard of a baby so young getting it, I"m just saying it could be. FYI once they get the rash it's no longer contagious.

If you have been out a lot lately it could be wind burn. Ive personally never heard of red cheeks from teething, but I would say if you don't think its wind burn then he is still sick, especially since he cranky.

My son's cheeks do the same thing. It is normal in winter. Their doc said it was just dry skin and to put A&D ointment on it. As long as he has no fever, it is normal. Don't worry.

Or cold weather, even if he's just going in and out of the car. If they're dry too, this gerber, giant lip balm looking stick, works great.

My baby got really rosy cheeks when she was teething. If he starts drooling watch for those pearly whites!

might be Baby acne is very common and usually starts by about 3 weeks of age. In baby acne, you see red bumps that look like pimples.
Another common rash at this age is seborrhea, also known as seborrheic dermatitis. It usually starts by one month of age. When you begin to notice red bumps (usually smaller than the pimples of acne) and yellow crusty scales and flakes on the hair-bearing areas of the body, such as the eyebrows, eyelashes, and scalp. It also tends to affect the neck and shoulder.
Mention the rash to your baby's doctor at his next visit. If it doesn't seem to be disappearing on its own, or it seems to worsen, I reccomend that you have the rash checked

Have you taken his temperature? He might have a fever. If it is over 102 degrees, take him to the doctor.
