All cubes are isometric, but not all things that are isometric are cubes - if that makes sense.

Isometric means "Of equal dimensions."

So, for example, a pyramid could also be isometric.

A triangle with two equal sides is isosceles; one with 3 equal sides is equilateral and isosceles. By the same analogy a square is equilateral in 2 planes and a cube is equilateral in 3 planes.
