question about audacity?

i saved a file in audacity format, then i changed its location and opened it again. Now when I want to record my singing track over the two music tracks it silences them and i cannot hear the music play while singing. I cannot sing without hearing the music play! Why does it do this?

It doesn't allow you to listen to another sound while recording. I don't know why they made it that way, but it can be very frustrating.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to start the song in another song player such as Windows Media Player or Itunes, and then record in Audacity while the song is playing in the background.
