Can you do it in 2 years? Someone told me that, but they weren't sure, so I'm just wondering...

I'm a nurse. Yes 2 years. But soon places will not accept the 2 year degree. I would finish with the 2 year and further your education for the 4 year degree. Take care and good luck.

There's NO TRUTH that the two year RN is obsolete. I think only three states require a BSN..North Dakota is one of them. Gee let's think about North Dakota..ok I guess I won't get a job there.

Now for the ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing) it takes two full years of schooling for the nursing courses AFTER you've done the pre-reqs. So book it for at least 3 years.

As for getting a Bachelors in Nursing or Masters in Nursing AFTER you get an ADN. Think twice. What happens if you lose your RN license? Your BSN or MSN are virtually worthless. My advice is to get the ADN and get a Bachelors in Business, or Management or something else OTHER THAN nursing. Declaring yourself a nurse three different ways isn't going to help you, especially if you lose your license to some unforeseen problem.

Generally, a two year nursing program is for LPNs. There are some RN programs that are just as quick, but you would have to be a full time student (no time to work), to likely complete this program. RNs are in higher need though, and they get payed more, so I would look into an accelerated RN program if you have the time to get it done.
