I used to work in a psychiatric hospital with paranoid schizophrenics and, believe me, you DO NOT want to mess with their minds. Sometimes, they can become easily violent. How many times have you heard or read of a case of a reclusive mother who suddenly flips out and murders her children because she heard a voice, usually God, telling her to do it? I happened just yesterday here in Macomb Township, Michigan. A young, single mother of two little girls slashed their throats repeatedly because she heard voices directing her to do so. How sad! If you are thinking of taunting someone with this serious condition, DON'T.

P.S. -- Did you know that there is a 16% likely-hood of a child of a schizophrenic parent developing the disorder, too--versus only 0.85 % for the general population. So I wouldn't laugh, if I were you.

I don't know if this is specific to paranoid schizophrenics, but I had friends that worked at a state hospital. One would sit down and watch TV with a resident while the other hid around the doorway with a syringe of water. Every now and then, she'd squirt a bit on the resident. He'd touch his head, look around--but he knew better than to say anything. After a few times, he'd turn to the nurse beside him and ask, "Do you feel water? I'm getting wet." She'd look at him and say, "No, I don't feel anything. What, are you crazy?"

I don't want this to sound like anyone had the upper hand. The residents gave as good as they got, from what I heard. They grew pot out in the woods, they got liquor and stashed it various places. Most of them were allowed freedom of the grounds. Some of them went off and used an old shed in the woods as a drinking hole. They booby trapped it with a shotgun shell, so one of the groundskeepers earned the name Leadbelly because he was the one who checked it out.

Dude, please don't do that. My dad is paranoid schizophrenic with severe delusions for the past 30 years, and I am 33.
He has scarred me and scared me and my brother for our entire lives. We tried to mess with him a few times with a figure that he concocted in his mind, but he got very belligerent, violent, and angry. Not only would you be harming him, you might possibly be harming yourself.
My dad has been on and off medication to where it worsens, and gets better. But seriously, I beg of you, don't do this.
You might think that the condition that he has is funny. I did too, but eventually in time I realized the seriousness of this mental disease. He has been in and out of mental hospital for the past 20 years.
You don't have to listen to me, but please, strongly consider my advice.

i in my opinion do not think of it is such a solid theory to "mess" with the techniques of a paranoid schizophrenic, surprisingly in case you care approximately your mom. i'm particular she already is familiar with how he could be, only refer to her approximately your concerns..........do not MESS WITH HIM!!!! Paranoid Schizophrenics are too unpredictable to possibility this!!!!!!!!!!!

Do your best to overdo trying to make them believe you are NOT messing with their mind....that will mess with it far harder than actually messing with it.....
