i have a udf dvd image that i want to be able to boot to.
but i do not have a dvd burner
so i am wondering if i can copy the dvd image to a small ide hardrive i have and boot to that instead

i am running mandriva linux

When i say "dvd image" i didnt mean a picture file, i mean an iso file that is normaly burned to a dvd, and then used to boot the computer, say to install a linux distro or a windows version

I am not to knowledgeable to linux, But if parameters and program languages are similar, you would need to have a screen capture program. In that respect, you could pause the image and capture it, then save it to your specified directory and boot to that image. Your terminology in reference t of booting in the windows versions of Microsoft adhere to starting up your system and logon files. I am curious to booting to an image
