i read that the russian guy who found all the colors, and named them. But he nemed purple..... violet! so what is the deal here?

well considering the three basic colors are blue red and yellow everything is shade if you will. by mixing these colors and the colors they creat is how you get the variety of shades from each color but that guy probably wanted to call it violet he found it he can do what he wants with it

Purple is a color... Violet is pretty much the same color.

violet is actually a tint of purple since it has some white in it
