Well I would guess that would depend on what part of the country you're in.
I've heard of a snow day but never of a cold day.
sub zero temperature (-20,-25) maybe but 0 degrees or minus 5 is not really that cold. People ski in cold weather why should they not work or go to school?

I assume the schools are heated, unless freezing rain made it impossible to drive to school.

The only time I recall missing school due to cold in Minnesota was when the governor cancelled it several years ago thanks to state-record low temperatures (It hit -60 in one place, and the windchill was well below -100.) Other than that, there has to be snow or ice preventing the buses from running smoothly.

Yeah you would. When it gets to the mid below zero, like around -20 and -30 is when they close schools

In our area of Wisconsin it has to be a windchill of -25 or lower to have school cancelled. It was cancelled yesterday. Burrrrr!

It depends where you live. When I lived in Ottawa, Canada it would get to -40 F and the school were still open. However, in Wisconson they close their schools.
