Ive never thought of it till recently.
We all see it in movies and its happened in real life too. Why do US criminals cross the border?? Won't the charges that were issued here in US be transferred or moved into mexico and face the same charges there??

The charges won't be transferred. Basically, when someone crosses into Mexico, they are no longer under US jurisdiction. The laws of Mexico apply to them. They wouldn't face any charges in Mexico.

Because Mexico has no extradition laws, meaning if a criminal wanted in the US leaves and goes there, the police cannot cross the border and Mexican police will not detain the individual and send him back to the US. Of course, criminals are stupid and do not realize there are other Federal organizations, like the Marshals who can cross borders and apprehend criminal fugitives and bring them back to face the charges that are pending. And if someone breaks the law in Mexico, I bet they would be begging to come back to the US, they don't play around down there, no "Constitutional rights", that's for sure!!!

Once in Mexico a person can more easily disappear. And the Mexican law enforcement doesn't see those people as a high priority. As far as Mexico is concerned, the only crime the person may be guilty of of an illegal border crossing. And the extradition process is so complex once they DO find the person (If they do) OF course with the new regulations it is harder to get in that way any longer...unless you know someone that can facilitate that...

They don't face the same charges there, but we do have an extradiction treaty with Mexico. Which means that, if they're captured in Mexico, they can be sent back to the US to face the US charges. I think criminals believe it's less likely that they'll be pursued and captured in Mexico for violations of US law.

Why do you think? to get away from going to jail, though most don't know that states will not extradite a person for many offenses and if they do it is only for an area like New England. Florida won't anyone with the exception of a few. Murders and Rapist, and crimes of severe violence they will go after the person though!

Being out of country just makes it that more difficult IF we have an extradition Treaty with them!

The last concern of the Mexican government is finding US fugitives. The fugitives don't cause any problems because they're trying to maintain a low profile anyway besides they get rich living off the dollar to peso.

The US can't pass jurisdiction in another country. Its just like leaving states when youbreak state or county laws. The mexican government can't do anything until they break a mexican laws

easier to get " lost " in Mexico and once your are in Mexico it would be very easy to go further down south and then you have the option to " disappear " in South America..., and if caught, easier to bribe your way out of jail...
