Hi, ive been driving my mothers 2000 ford focus for a while now and i noticed that whenever i give it too much gas, the engine revs high but i dont feel the power going to the wheels. Its like, ill be driving, doing like 30mph or whatever, then if i suddenly step on the gas real hard, the engine just revs for a second as if i put it into neutral and then stepped on the gas. is the torque converter slipping or is something else the matter. she doesnt really care about it, but its annoying for me because i wanna go faster as soon as i step on the gas. im a more aggressive driver. Not dangerous aggressive though, at least i dont think so. thanks for your help.

Check the transmission fluid level. Torque converters don't generally slip, it's probably the tranny. If the fluid level is good, smell it. If it smells burnt you know the tranny's going bad. Good luck.

Like a few of the other people said transmission problem. Check the fluid if its low add more and if that doesn't help take it to get serviced.

It's more than likely your transmission slipping, check the fluid level.... if it is full and still slips you need to have it serviced.

I think your mother should get her keys back if you're going to drive the bag off her car.

torque convertors don't cause slippage, you got bad clutches in the trans. get it overhauled by a pro
