I use the BT/YAHOO browser with internet explorer 7. The past few days. I have been getting pop-up appearing every few minutes whilst I'm using it. I have the pop-up blocker turned on. I have the adaware program. All my firewalls and virus protection is up to date. Has anybody any idea whats gone wrong. I tried downloading a free pop-up/over blocker. That didnt help either. I am no computor geek, so any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Which adaware program did you run?

(1) Get you self a good antivirus or a free one .
(2) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .
(3) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

If the above steps do not remove the hijack then you would need to
(4) Download hijackthis
(5) Post the hijackthis log on the hijackthis forum for the hijackthis experts to take a look

Don't use IE 7 i have had problems with it for years. You are vulnerable to hackers using it. Download the free Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured Web browser that makes browsing more efficient than ever before. Firefox includes pop-up blocking; a tab-browsing; integrated Google searching; simplified privacy controls that let you cover your tracks more effectively; a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser; and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online.

Version 2 features an updated theme and user interface, built-in phishing protection, enhanced search capabilities, improved tabbed browsing, and inline spell checking. The latest release fixes a critical security vulnerability.

Go to Tools - options - and change the settings to turn off Active X. You don't need it for most websites and its a liability. Its somewhere in the Advanced settings.
Use Firefox for general surfing, *** the Ad Block plug in.
Install Spywareblaster, and use the Teatimer settings in Spybot Search and Destroy.

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

Thats because you havent the right settings in ActiveA, that is what allows them to communicate with your computer.

Review those setting, got to Tools, InterOptions, Security, Custom and see ActiveX settings. Check off appropriate boxes

Go to tools>Pop-up Blocker>Pop-up Blocker Settings and set it to high. This blocks all pop-ups, and you need to press Ctrl to override this.
