The main character was a girl and I remember she had a weird name. The story was set during our time but in a small quiet town. Well anyways the girl could read people's minds and she worked at a bar. She also took care of her grandmother or old aunt. Then a vampire guy came and later on she realized that she couldn't read his mind so she is happy about this. Anyways, he moves into her town and they end up liking each other. Someone gets murdered and she wonders if it's him but I'm not sure about this part. If you know the name of it or even the author's name, anything please tell me. I really want to find it to give it to my friend. Oh and the paperback cover shows a vampire and a girl with blonde hair in the air because they are floating and the backgrounds a night setting. It's not a very detailed drawing but it's still nice. Anyone know???

The book is Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris.
It's the first book in her "Southern Vampire" series.
The character's name is Sookie Stackhouse.
There are five other books (so far) in the series, all of which I've quite enjoyed - fun easy reads.
Check the link for the whole series.

I'm sorry..I don't know the name of this book. But I thought I would tell you another book that you would love if you liked that one. It's Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. The sequel is New Moon. You may have already of these books tho. Sorry again that I couldn't help.

I know which one you're talking about, but I can't remember the title! Sorry! However, if you go to barnesandnoble.com, and look under sci-fi/fantasy or horror, I think you'll find it because it looks pretty popular.
