They herd together and likely find a relatively sheltered area, but they will still be right out in the open. Late in the winter is the worst time. Their fat reserves can become depleted over the winter, and food becomes scarcer due to overgrazing and deeper snow cover. Malnutrition coupled with cold temps can lead to large die offs. Especially during rougher winters with higher deer populations to begin with (higher population results in overgrazing).

As herding animals, they huddle together for warmth. It depends upon the environment when you ask "where do they go" -- if they live in an evergreen forest, they'll be found under trees. If it's more of a plain/cornfield type area, they'll head for whatever cover is available to excape the wind.

they stay out of the wind by being down in the valley or in thick weed or wood and they bed down and they feed often they have hollow hair that is a good insulator

They go to the low lands, like in my back yard,then they eat all of my shrubs, get into my hay,witch I don't mind they can eat all the hay they want,just leave the shrubs alone.

nowhere the huddle in clearings in the forest to share heat. and use the woods as windbreaks. also they can withstand much colder temperatures than u and can because of their fur and warmer blood.
