Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith were the first black head coaches to be in the Super Bowl. Dungy was the first black man to win one. Condi Rice was the first black woman to be Sec of State. Colin Powell was the first black man to be Sec of State. Blacks run businesses and have a dominance on most professional sports.

If this is not enough, what would be? When will people admit that blacks have made it to the top in every industry?

I am looking for honest answers here.

g reminds me of a great point someone made to me some time ago. America is about equal opportunity, not equal outcome.

Never, because it does not help anyone's agenda. The Right cannot say it because they will be branded as racists that do not have the right to make such statements since they do not have the experience of being black.

The left will not say it, because their position on race issues helps them maintain a solid minority voting base. This will hold whether the left does anything of value for minorities, or if they just pay lip service to the issues.

This will be an issue until the minorities in the U.S. decide on their own that it is true. Of course, they cannot be blamed for using it to their advantage.

The claim below that minorities earn less, and using that as proof that there is not an equality of opportunity is false and misleading. The reason that Native Americans earn far less than white men is based largely in education. You cannot expect someone to earn as much as another person with a much higher level of education. And that is often the problem in these blanket evaluations. If you measure income of a white high school grad without any college with a person of any other race with the same background, you will find that their income is very close. The issue is when you allow a dropout of one race to be compared to a person with post-doc work from another.

I am so tired of hearing blacks and racism on everything. There is the Naacp. If we had a white association that handed out stuff that is racism. People need to let go and move on. Americans whether black or white should not worry about each other and what we dont have as everyone makes their own way in life and stop with the slave stuff already. Please remember that the black man sold the black man okay. So when talking history get it right. Pretty soon we wont have to worry as both black and white will be the minority because the mexicans are taking over.

Mark makes an astounding element. I have a chum who works as a files professor at UCLA. even as his son develop into born, they'd already determined, in the previous he might want to communicate, that he develop into fantastic. although, he grew to develop into out to be of known intelligence, a minimum of if a possibility infer intelligence from college, standardized assessments, etc. nicely, via the years, the newborn all started appearing out, getting intro worry, and messing up academically. So, the daddy positioned him into an noticeably unique Catholic inner most college. The son did not carry out in a stellar way, although the change in ecosystem helped. I artwork in a ghetto college. most of the dad and mom lack formal education, and many do no longer communicate English. they do no longer have the means to interfere even as their little ones have issues. also, on the college in which I artwork, the scholars, elderly 14-18, are frequently way in the back of of their means element. that is extremely complicated to make inventive, rigorous classes for school little ones so poor in skills. the position I stay, the median earnings is significantly better than the position I artwork, the colleges are only about all "California favourite", and the little ones, typically, have a significantly better chance to achieve fulfillment. everyone who would not well known this tremendous disparity isn't managing reality

It's not the color of the skin, it's the quality of parenting. The black culture is one where sex before marriage is common and very rarely discouraged, and marriage itself is not as highly regarded. This leads to deadbeat dads and mothers with a dozen kids with 8 different fathers. This kind of environment fosters children that have absolutely no discipline, which leads to the failures in education followed by failures in life. The saddest part is that the parents of these children are completely blind to these facts, even after all their children are grown and gone. They are brainwashed into thinking that it is society's fault, or the government's fault, or "The Man's fault". The children don't see the truth, and go on to raise their children the same way. It is a never ending cycle. This is not just limited to black families. Poor white families fail for the exact same reason. It's time to wake up and change the culture.

it seems to me that yes, they do have the same opportunities as all others. but lets face it, if you or I had such an ace in the hole like the black community does, wouldn't we play the heck out of it to see how far it will go too? eventually the Americans that had nothing to do with hurting the Africans that are not even alive any more, will have to give something up to the African-Americans that had nothing to do with being hurt.

I think what was done in the past was oh so wrong. but its in the past and I can not see how anyone is owed anything now at this point in time. we should all make our way the best we can....

When we stop noticing that a black person has achieved these positions. It's still perceived as novel as these are still firsts.

Statistically, things are still skewed but the reasons are varied. There are individuals in those positions but not in the volumes that they "should" be statistically.

Having an individual acheive success does not inherently mean that the playing field is equal. I hear blatantly racist comments much more often than you would hope for in this day and age. All you have to do is peruse this site to see that blantant racism is alive and well (and proud of it, too).

I think that we have another generation to go before we can call it a success. Once it is no longer a novelty, once it is universally looked down upon to consider skin color any more than hair color, we are not at the point where we can throw up our hands and say all is well.

To the person who had thoughts on the blacks being deadbeat dads and mothers with 8 children with different daddies..but no one says what the WHITES do! such as KILLING THEIR parents. Just because prison is filled with blacks, doesnt mean we are the only ones commiting crimes, just means those were the ones who got CAUGHT. Enron never happened? No one ever heard of trailer parks and who are mostly in those? But everyone wants to blame the blacks..its funny people say we complain about racism but after reading these posts and seeing how people really feel. It is evident that it does exists, along with other minorities. SMH.....

I am white. I have no problem with black people. I think they can achieve anything they set their minds too. I do accept that there have been disparities for them such as in the banking industry and within communities. However, I think that they, like I!, must try and put aside those and the nasties that still remain in our country and make a nice life for themselves. Hopefully you all avoid $hopping from big corporation white man though, as I do.

when Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton stop playing the race card on CNN and getting coverage. When whites stop calling them Black leaders. No other race has leaders. Drop the race. Tony Dungy won the super bowl and whites degrade him by making a major factor out of the fact he is black "and" won the super bowl. This is insulting to him and all blacks
