The more I get a chance to talk to conservative folks, I get the impression you guys have serious social issues. I'm getting the feeling that your resentment of liberals is based on your own form of social repression. Conservatives are drastically uncomfortable with people, who are different from themselves...so your fear forces you project to one another by forming a buffalo huddle. I think its because you guys are scared socially. Conservatives seem to be a huge wall flower society. Am I right?

Well, you did describe me to a "T"! Good Job!
I can explain why that is though! Conservatives have to follow guidelines on what is acceptable. (As opposed to liberals think that EVERYTHING is okay) If we didn't follow practices that were the best for humanity in the long run everybody would already be dead! But we need the crazy liberals too to balance us out so we aren't real *buttholes* about everything! It's a harmonious balance, and I for one, love it!

I might "feel" the same way at times and though I understand where your coming from, I just detest blanket generalizations of this sort. They are beneath educated people who understand that conservative and liberal are labels not facts, simplifications of a complex reality. A great many people defy such convenient oversimplifications, I know many people who are socially liberal and a bit more conservative fiscally. I tend to lean a bit left of center on some issues, right in the middle on others and wildly left on some other issues. No simple label contains all the opinions and feelings that someone has on a range of issues. I know wild partying crazies who are politically conservative and straight laced born again liberals. Think outside the box, jettison all stereotypes of this kind and you wil find yourself free of the need to ask such absurd questions!!!

Nope. Not at all, Conservatives just have a completely different philosophy at politics than you do. Sometimes it carries over to life, sometimes not. I know for me, I am definately not uptight. I have friends who are liberals, friends who are lawyers (still don't quite get that, but it is true). My resentment of liberals is this:
Liberals tend to support Tax Programs whose sole purpose is the redistribution of wealth, not caring for the unintended consequences on the rest of society.
I also do not care for the stereotyping of Conservatives as "Rich, Corrupt, and uncaring." Because I am no rich, or corrupt, or uncaring.
I do not agree with Liberals on the path the United States should take. Socialism, historically is has had ill effects.
I think that whatever the government touches, the government screws up, so I want smaller government, the liberals disagree.
There are more, but I got bored answering.

Of course the main difference between liberalism and conservatism seems to be in the way of thinking. Liberals are abstract thinkers, great at seeing the big picture but don't like messing with the details, while Conservatives are so lost in detail they fail to see the big picture. Its a left brain/right brain thing. It is best if we learn to integrate the two ways of thinking.

I think conservatives as a group are scared that liberal "what's in it for me" generation people will forget to do the work that keeps a nation or a society intact - this new generation is a generation of whiners and disconnects - the society is unravelling right now in real time - soon there won't be an America like there was in the 50s, and we all, including you ipod types, will lose stuff you never realized could be lost.

Yes, but not as uptight as the far-left liberals. The truly easy going people are the libertarians.

No, but sometimes you have to be uptight. And, that "resentment of liberals" is really a reaction to liberal propoganda. I mean, every time a liberal is losing an arguement, he/she will almost always accuse their opponent of either being a racist, sexist, or homophob.
Racist: Anyone who's beating a liberal in an arguement.

Having morals and traditional family values is what makes us Conservatives, or a big part of it anyway. I'm sorry, but killing unborn children, being a carpet muncher/rump ranger, or depending on welfare to support me just isn't my ideal living large.

A good night on the town with me and a few of my wild friends would do them a world of good. Of course the guilt and shame of having fun would keep them indoors for weeks afterwards.
