Some wars are necessary.

I am a Democrat and I am a liberal. I was in the Army until 1988 then volunteered to come out off inactive status to go to Gulf War 1.

Your misconception that liberals are against wars is incorrect... to honestly think that only non-liberal ppl fight wars is naive.

How many wars have you fought in? If you've ever been in combat, you'll not be so anxious to go to war for any but the most compelling of reasons. We entered Afghanistan for all the right reasons, to kill or capture OBL and to destroy AlQuada. We did neither only because GWB wanted war with Saddam Hussein for reasons long discredited. So yes, we liberals think Iraq was a mistake and we shouldn't be fighting a useless war that's already cost the lives of 3100 of our troops, not to mention the 20,000 or so that have lost a part of their lives there. There are some wars worth fighting, the one in Iraq isn't. You asked, I answered.

We should defend ourselves and those who have been attacked by another Nation, hopefully by the UN!

I am a liberal and I was in a war! Another one based on lies, Vietnam!

The question should be,"should we unilaterally attack, in violation of International law, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, with the only serious premise being the loss of oil contracts of Iraqi oil to France and Russia!

We should fight any war where we are attacked. 9/11's war on terrorism is a farce as their is no such thing! Like Col. Hackworth said, " I might as well start a war on flanking maneuvers"!

Interesting you say that considering all the major wars in this century were declared by Democrats like Wilson,Truman and FDR!

This is not a war and we aren't fighting terrorist. We are fighting insurgence who are Iraqi's! It is a Civil War berween waring religious factions and we have no business in it!

What amazes me, is that you ask that as tho' it were as bad thing... like oh my God, what if we don't fight in any wars.

Personally, i think it would be the most wonderful thing on earth if we did not ever have to fight another war... but I know that will never happen.

However, I think what most libs, think is that we should not be fighting stupid wars.. for no reason other than lies and misconceptions and someones fathers feeling got hurt. Iraq is going to be a war without end.. we shall never win it.. and too many will die because of the stubbornness of one man.. no, i do not think we should have fought this war.

Of course there should be no wars.... No war is justified.... We need to get "Peace in our time" just like Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain did in the 1930's..... uhhhh oops.

War is going to happen. The question is are we going to win the wars that we become involved with, whether by choice or not, or are we going to hand our enemies victory, like we did in Vietnam?

Sorry for the sarcasm.

wars are a sad fact of life! it generates billions of dollars in revenue for certain nations! it is big business!human nature being what it is, people will always fight over religion, land, and oil! the next one will entail nuclear weapons though! do not want to be here for that! the liberals are so full of crap that they will ruin this nation with their outlook!

of course not... just don't fight them under an assumption...

know what we're doing and what we're getting into... don't assume...

do Republicans think it's ok to put soldier's lives on the line for assumptions?

if you assume incorrectly, people won't like it... but I guess you're learning that the hard way...

there may be some extreme liberals who believe in no war at all... but I don't think most liberals think that's feasible in today's world...

Just not illegal wars. When the Nazis were tried in the Nuremberg trail they were tried for planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression, if these standards were still to be met the American and British leaders would be going to jail for a very long time.

WHY would you WANT to fight in ANY war - all supposing we agree on your definition of the word "War"...

War by definition means looking down the barrel of a rifle and seeing the enemy earing a uniform.

Have you not learnt ANYTHING from history? US's recent past is nothing to be proud about - invading countries against International laws and advice on more than one occassion, withdrawing from a country it's invaded BEFORE the job has been completed leaving other countries to sort its mess out...

You sound so proud asking such a question....

DUH !!!

Go back to school and learn a LOT more about history, and learn from the mistakes made then... USA only have to go back as far as the 1960's to learn from mistakes made bigtime in Vietnam... it's just unfortunate, they are still making them today...and at a cost of thier allies lives from "friendly-fire"..

Be satisfied with maintaining the 60+ years of peace our fore fathers fought for in WW2.. and before you start spouting off... USA did NOT come to the aid of UK/European countries.. FAR FROM IT !! USA only joined in WW2 BECAUSE they were bombed in Pearl Harbour !!!

Today... USA ASKED UK/NATO for military help to squash terrorists in AFGHANISTAN - the REAL SOURCE of this recent conflict on terrorism - NOT Iraq - contrary to US belief. Once that help was received, what did US do?.... withdrew upto 77% of US troops from AFGHANISTAN and re-deployed them to invade Iraq.. leaving UK/NATO troops grossly under-maned and inder-resourced, not to mention having to keep one eye on the terrorists and the other eye on US trigger happy military allies !! to clear up the mess they left behind in AFGHANISTAN.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Yeah thats right and while we're at it lets let the weeds grow in our yards and what the hell let child molestors have their way with our children. Lets not stand up to anything. We are weak cowardly appeasers. Weeds and child molestors have just as much right to live as we do. So do evil dictators and terrorists.
