What family is the element Samarium (Sm) Atomic # 62 on the periodic table? and why?

And if you feel like answering this why is its number 62 imporant and its GMM 150.4?

It's a "lanthanide", ie. one of those elements placed after lanthanium where d-orbitals had stopped filling up and f-orbitals gradually fill up (with electrons).
