Ted Haggard claims he is now cured. Also i found this website, a organization which claims it can cure people of homosexuality as they call it.
Please, dont attack me. This question does not reflect my viewpoint or opinion. Im just pointing out the website and the issue. I am just curious as to what both sides think of this. Gay people and Straight people. And even straight people who are against Gay marriage.
What are your opinions on this?

I dont think it can be "Cured" as it is not a disease or disorder. I do feel it is possible to take a gay person and help them to stop living the gay lifestyle through counseling. To maybe help a man to quit sleeping with other men. But would this actually be help for them, or would it be brainwashing? Regardless, the said person would still be gay.
In my opinion if Ted Haggard entered into a homosexual relationship-he is gay and will be for life. He is in denial if he thinks he is cured. Even if he never touches another man again, he is gay. Im not saying thats wrong, im just saying thats what he is and he is in denial. Or in the closet. You dont enter into a long term relationship with a person fo the same sex due to a mistake or lack of willpower. You do it because you are gay. Councelling can not change that. The only thing wrong with that is denying what you are in my opinion.
Myself-im not gay. Im straight for anyone who is wondering or who cares.

That's great his first announcement is he isn't gay yet he mentions nothing about drugs. Also it isn't a cure, they just teach them to suppress it.

Homosexuality is different for different people.First of all homosexuality is not a disease, and if they want to,some people can stop homosexual, and some people either accept that they are or struggle with it. I think it depends on your personality if you can be "cured" or not. And I don't think cured is the apprpriate word to be used. And I am also a christian.I am tired of christians always being so judgmental. I don't judge anyone...whatever choices a person makes is between them and God.I am a good friend and very understanding because I am a good listener.

Since homosexuality is not recognized as a disease, despite what the blethering berk says when you open the site, I don't see it being cured.
What does happen though is that gays may go through a bi phase. But that doesn't change the fact that they are bi who believe they are str8.
This is just another attempt by a conservative group to turn back the clock.
They will have a little success but gayness will always be with us.
Hooray!

To suggest that homosexuality can be 'cured' is to suggest it is a disease. The majority of this thinking died through the eighties and nineties. The psychological view now is that homosexuality IS NOT a disease, and any attempt at repressing this natural urge causes more harm than good.
This is a strait view shared throughout the psychological community.

If he is cured than who cured him? The only cure for any thing thatdeals with ones way of thinking is this. Their is no cure only a change of the way one thinks in their mind.

I quit drinking alcahol years ago. Was I cured? No because I made the choise not to drink anymore for reasones of my choise. Did I consider myself an alcahlic? No and I still don't because if I did than I would have the urge to still drink alcahoul.

So again there isd no curing because one only chages what they want to do in ther mind.

There is no evidence to support that homosexuality is a disease. Many gay people lead satisfactory productive lives.Pop culture, the media and sterotypes have created an image of tragedy.sordid behavior about gay people. There is no more cure for a gay than there is for a heterosexual person

There is nothing to "cure"! It is 2007 and there is no excuse for ignorance. I did not choose to be gay, Why would I wish to put myself through the abuse? When I came out I was asked "why do you choose to be gay"? My answer was "I didn't choose to be gay, I choose to live my life the way I wanted! Not the way society thinks I should live"! I was raised in a very strict Pentecostal household. My family and I have not spoken in almost 7years. If being gay was an illness, They would be praying for me. There is nothing to cure!

As a gay woman I don't feel that there is anything "wrong" with me. I don't need therapy or any cure. I DO believe that some people are very nervous and unsetteled with sexuality.

This is pure BS! Homosexuality isn't a disease or an illness!! Therefore it cannot be cured........just pure crap. I'm not attacking you personally sorry if you think that. It just makes me mad that people feel this way, it's ridiculous. Who cares if someone is gay? If they are happy that is all that matters. It doesn't mean they need to be cured......lol.......just crap(this article).

Why on earth would someone want to be 'cured' (if there was such a thing)? If a person is homosexual, then accept it as a fact and move on.
