no they can have it as a treat, but not the main meal. dosn't have all the extra goodies the hamster needs.

I would say not to feed the hamster parakeet food. That is exactly why they make hamster food for hamsters and parakeet food for parakeets. Plus, they have different chemicals that could affect your hamster. For the safety of your hamster, I would tell you not to feed it parakeet food.

We have a hamster and have fed it bird seed on several occasions. It tends to like the bits of corn and sunflower seeds best. It is still very much alive. We have also only fed it carrots and celery and lettuce at times. He seems to thrive quite well on that too.

they can eat the seeds out of it as a treat, but do not feed it as a normal staple food because it had different nutrients

i used to feed my parrot corn, chicken, and jello...
i fed my hamtser ....hamster food....
i would suggest a diet ..... of hamster food.

THEY HAVE DIFFERENT NUTRIENTS- YOU'RE HAMSTER WILL SURVIVE.
FEED IT RIGHT IF POSSIBLE - THE AVERAGE LIFESPAN IS ONLY 1,000 DAYS,
