I'm a fellow aussie like you and I've only ever had school close down from temperature problems once. It was 49~50 degrees. I don't think that temperature will ever be reached in a long time...

If there is very little wind, then school should stay open. Most people in that area should be accustomed to it being cold, but maybe not that cold. With a wind, school should be cancelled. You don't want everybody to show up to school frozen and getting sick. That wind takes all your body heat away.

I'm in Florida, and I was sweating today. You guys up north have it soooooo good. You get nice gloomy weather, blizzards, and icy roads, while we have to suffer thru the heat, the sunny days at the beach, and all of the clear skies. Man it sucks down here! ; )

Is there any snow involved? If so, I think they should close down schools and other places so there would be less accidents and people frozen to death in cars that broke down. When it's that cold, you should be indoors were it's warm.

They only need to close schools if there is ice outside or on the roads. Other wise, i see no point. Plus, why would u wanna spend extra make up days when u can be out!!??
