DNA replication occurs in all forms of reproduction, so yes both. THe method of recombination and formation of daughter cells or zygotes vary however.

DNA replication has to occur before both of these processes.

1. Asexual reproduction requires mitosis and dividing of cells to make daughter cells. The DNA has to be copied so each of the new cells has a complete set of chromosomes.
2. Sexual reproduction requires meiosis and dividing of cells to make the reproductive cells called gametes. The DNA has to be copied so that each of the four new cells has half the original number of chromosomes.
