I just completed the oposite, I changed standard steering to power steering. If you just plug the holes in the power gear, you may find the steering wheel hard to turn or locked at times and the time you really need to steer most, you won't be able to. Find yourself a non-power steering gear and replace the power steering gear. You'll probably have to change the pitman arm also.

Not a good idea. Your steering box is designed to be powered. Plugging the holes will leave you with very heavy steering. The fluid left in the box will either force the plugs out, or jam the steering. Removing the fluid altogether will ruin the box even faster. Just get yourself a non-powered steering box and put it in.

you should go to a salvage yard and get a gear box and the other components for the steering for that. power steering systems and non power are different. If you try to just plug the holes you are going to have a lot of trouble driving it...especially under slow driving conditions.
If it was me I'd just get a new gear box or whatever is wrong and put it back to original

yes it is possible however it will depend on what type of vehicle and parts that you can get. to my knowledge you can not use just any over the counter parts. but like I said it will depend on what type of vehicle you are working on. I am a diesel tech with about 5 years of experience working on trucks and cars.
