My son is 16 and I found out he's doing pot, and I found out that my 17 year old daughter has tried speed, mushrooms, ecstasy, pot and something else. I also have 2 other kids ages 18 1/2 and 23, and I believe they do pot from time to time. What do I do to my younger 2 that I just found out about? We don't have wilderness camps where I live, if we did, believe me, they'd be gone!!

I am not a teenager, but I work with teenagers through the child protective service field and deal with many drug addicted teens. I am assuming by this question you are a mom who found out her teenager is doing drugs? I would recommend talking honestly with them about the dangers of drugs, grounding them for the drug use, and doing everything you can to prevent it. Find out where your child is at all times, verify that parents will be present if they ask to go to a friend's house, etc. I also recommend seeking professional help if you feel there may be a serious problem. Find a counselor, preferrably a certified chemical dependency counselor, and make an appointment for your child ASAP before it gets any worse.

Well, I'm 19 now and when I lived with my mother, I was terrible. I wasn't on drugs really bad, but I DID experiment. I was more of a rebel. I didn't want to listen to anything she had to say, because I thought she was too strict on me. After I moved out and moved in with my grandma, I didn't really have any limitations...so I straightened up quite a bit. I couldn't find a way to rebel since I wasn't so sheltered. Now I don't touch drugs or alcohol EVER. I'm happily married and extremely mature for my age. I'm sure this wouldn't happen for all teenagers...I was just lucky I guess. Hopefully things will work out for the better...

i have a really good relationship with my parents
and im gunna assume youre taling about weed
they know that i occasionally smoke, and i know they smoked
they know im responsible and not doing anything dangerous
be realistic.
but if its something worse...
send them to wilderness camp. i have friends who were meth addicts (not because weed is a gateway drug, but because they lack self control) and they were sent away and are now doing great
they have not come back and will probably not continue high school in the same way as before, but they are happy and off drugs

THAT'S A SAD SITUATION. UNFORTUNATELY I'M NOT A MOTHER AND DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT FEELING. BUT I CAN TELL YOU I'VE SEEN OTHER TEENS SOME FRIENDS DESTROY THEIR LIFES WITH DRUGS. THE EXPERIENCE IS HORRIBLE AND I THINK THAT THEY ARE DOING WRONG, AND THAT YOU NEED TO FACE THEM AND MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND. GOD KNOWS WHY THEY STARTED DOING DRUGS IN THE FIRST PLACE BUT YOU NEED TO PUT YOUR PANTS ON AND CHANGE THAT. IT IS YOUR DUTY AND EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT KINDS ANYMORE THEY ARE ACTING LIKE ONE BECAUSE WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS IRRESPONSIBLE, AND IMMATURE.

See if there is a scared straight program in your area. if there is I suggest you look into it. If not then make them go with you to the homeless shelter and show them what life will be like if they continue.
