I don't think Europeons hate Americans. They have disagreements about some of the decisions that our government has made, but then so do some Americans. I think that is only a stereotype. I have been living in Sweden for over a year, and have never came across any negative comments or reaction to me being an American.

I don't think it's like this. I'm European and I do not hate Americans. Neither my friend - every summer they go to USA for holidays or work (I'll go next year because I want to be 21 first).

I think there are lots of negative stereotypes and some people believe that there's truth in them without checking the reality. That's why maybe some people give opinions based only on negative statements which aren't even their own ideas.

Well, my husband is Dutch and moved here from the Netherlands over 10 yrs ago and he says they don't hate us it's just they feel that because Americans think they are above everyone else. He says we feel we're better at sports, have a better government and that we think our country is the greatest in the world. I'm not saying I agree as I'm American and love my country - this opinion is from a European.

Because WE, The Americans, are comprised of many nationalities and we are doing better and getting along better with each other than them. They have been doing this"fighting" amongst themselves for so long, that is all they know... We, however, have only been around a few hundred years and we advanced they stayed behind and now they are angry at us...

They dont, they just think they are brash, generally unintelligent and a bit arrogant. Apart from that I think they like em.

Mostly British people like yanks, even if there is a bit of friendly banter..

They hate us until it comes time for us to bail them out of a tight spot, and then all of sudden we're their friends. Simply put, they're a bunch of two - faced b*******!
