I have more problems understanding Irish people than Scottish.

My grandparents, who have lived in Australia for 38 years, have the thickest Glaswegian accents I have heard, thicker than any person I have spoken to in Scotland! I can understand them (most of the time) so I can easily understand other Scottish people!

My mother's Scottish (father's black) I grew up listening to her accent so I would have to say no. But I can see where you're coming from, it's not what they're saying it's the fact that they talk really fast sometimes.

ps- If you think they're hard to understand, try eating their food (haggis, steak and kidney pie) it's terrible

Depends on what part of Scotland they are from. The southern part isn't so bad. The northern part is crazy to make out!
