Try to hang in there and wait out the 3-4 weeks. Just to be safe. After that, when you do change it, I found the easiest time is as soon as you get out of the shower,(especially the first time) while the old ring and pierced site is wet. Then wet, and clean, the one your putting in, also make sure the pierced area is still wet. It will usually go in easier.
If you check out this site, it says wait at least 6 months before changing it for the first time......

Personally I think belly button rings are more attractive. I have one and I didnt think it was painful. My sister has both and she said her nose hurt the worst out of all her piercings, she has gotten her rook, nose, and belly button. Complications can happen with either you just have to be careful not to get an infection. They both will scar but the nose would be seen more. My sister has a little hold in her nose (it is closed) but you can see where it was. It isnt really noticable but still there. And belly buttons rings leave a circle scar which isnt the prettiest. I hope this helps you decide.

I don't know the answer, but I'd say go online [if you don't find the answe here] and punch in 'when can you change your belly button ring for the first time', or similar to that.
Remember, and this is from a nurse, better be safe than sorry, so find out why you're not supposed to mess with it.
I've seen horrible infections in ears and in bellies, so be careful.
Take care

Wait the 3-4 weeks. The person who did the piercing does this for a living and knows what he is talking about. Listen to the expert.

I think the point the guy was trying to make was it could close up if you remove the ring and leave it off. You can change it just make sure the new ring is clean so you don't get a infection. And clean your belly with alcohol to. Good luck.

I suggest you wait! The peirced it is right. Your freinds bodies(if they told you this by expreience) may heal faster or in a diffrent way than yours does. I'm not sure why.. but I got my ears peirced and I said.. 'oh the jewelry will only be out for 4 seconds; I can change my earings.' for some reason one ear worked and the other earing did not go thorugh! So just a thought!

I think u should wait the weeks he said because everybody body is different a yours might not heal as quick as your friends. You be monkey seee monkkey do. So I just advise u to just be careful and take care of it. It can rip your skin if it is not taking care of.

You should do what the guy told you and wait 3-4 weeks. Just cuz nothing happened when your friends did it, doesn't mean nothing can happen to you. But it's your choice, that's just my opinion.

I wouldn't. Your piercing might not handle it as well as everybody else's. Save up your money for a gold one, that way you have something to look foward to, and you won't have even more temptation to take it out!
