Yeh, like people are saying, take your son to a Psyc. Dr. and they can do a series of tests. My kid went through all that. She wasn't diagnosed with ADD, BUT, I think she does have that. They say it's OCD.
Hers started with drifting off into space and not paying attention, and this was in Kindergarten. She;s in 6th now.
Yep on medication. It's not good for everyone but if it helps the kids and adults in need of it, Thank God.
Another thing is go to Mayoclinic.com or webmd.com and look under "conditions". They go from A to Z. You can get alot of information from these sources that you and your Husband can look at together.

Both my boys have ADHD as well as myself. I can relate to them and to you as a mom. There is an information highway on the internet, that and have him go to a Dr. Appointment to discuss it with the doctor. Involve him in the question and answer phase of the neurologists first step in diagnosing ADD or ADHD...have you recieved any letters from the school with concern for grades and or behavior...show him those. Im sure you can fine the question answer for ADD or ADHD online as well. Good luck...and in October of his second grade they threatened to fail my oldest, I fought having him evaluated...I did and he is an honor roll student on the fast track to west point. When I finally gave in after the suicide death of my husband revealed that 70% of successful suicides are by people with ADD or ADHD and got evaluated myself...I went to bed....a high school drop out, fat lonely depressed wife and mother of three with nothing to show for herself....and woke up .... became a full time EMT inside of a year, lost all the 140 pounds I had packed on, my house is clean and organized, I am happy and have gained respect I never knew I was even missing. OH and respect for myself

Just tell your husband about it and go online with him and do research on the disorder and he can also talk with your boys doctor about it too. Is your boy on medication for it?

make him a Dr appoint with his Dr....they will have informational packets for you to take home.and tests they can do, then you will get a referral to see a physc Dr and proceed from there. Pls though, get more than one opinion before you medicate him. I was told by 2 drs my son had ADD and ODD and come to find out he didnt.

pay attention to if your son drifts off in class or can't focus on anything. It's not so bad. but some medicines may stunt growth if they are taken for too long.
