I am beyond child bearing years. When the man I loved for 6 years lost his sons to war and needed a new heir, I understood. He needed peace and rest from serious pain and I was far away from him at the time.

He became involved with a young woman who could do things for him I could not. A few weeks prior to our wedding date, I was informed of a few things I cannot discuss. I was not there to ease his pain so I let him go to her because she could give him the babies he needed. Also as a much younger woman, she could help him regain much of his youth. I loved him and wanted his happiness above all.

We are still friends, I will love him forever. No man will ever take his place even though I am no longer alone. I wish with all my heart it could have been different for us. But he is so happy now with her and their two sons, I must be happy for him too, even though at times I still hurt for him.

But, life goes on and then you croak.

One of the toughest things I ever had to do was end a relationship 4 years ago. We had been together for nearly 2 years and I knew he wasn't the one and I didn't want to live a lie. He wanted to marry me and while the offer was nice, I just couldn't go through with it. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done - but it was by far one of the smartest.

I left a eight year marriage because I truly felt at the time that the new love knew me better and loved me deeper. I was wrong, and I burnt a very nice bridge.
