I bought this Chevy new in 2000, I use it alot mostly highway miles in the rocky mountain states. I service this vehicle every 3000 miles. Haven't any problems with it yet. Just belt, tire, wiper battery replacements. It just turned over 269,680 miles. How long can this truck be expected to last before it needs a major overhaul.

I'm still getting the same mileage as i did the day i bought it and it doesn't burn any oil it runs great and has plenty of power.

Better check your rear brakes... the rear disc brakes will wear out twice as fast as the fronts (doesn't make sense, does it) and will chew up the rotors and cost $800 or so to replace..

Its ounds like a Fuel Issue, spend a 100 for a diagnosis at a local Chevy dealership to find out what it is. Better than throwing parts at it. At least they can guarantee a diag.

i own a repair shop, and i,ll tell you the one thing you do need to do to it right now,and that's change the timing chain and gears your already past the limit of how long it should have lasted on it,if you,ll do this now,id say you will probably wear this one in to the ground,gm products are good vehicles ,but the factory timing gears and chain is made of a soft material, and will break ,the after market ones are good for a long time, but this will be probably the only thing you,ll ever have to do to it ,engines wise,i have a suburban with over 200 thousand on it,and i put a chain in it at 150 thousand, and it still goes anywhere i want to take it,it knows its own way to Michigan i think by its self, its been there enough, but if you,ll change the gears and chain,it will last you a lot longer than you think it will, good luck,i hope this help,s.

As long as you keep servicing the engine it will last for a very long time the things I would look at replacing are chassis parts like ball joints shocks tie rod ends etc.

You have service your Chevy about 90 times in that case, if it was brand new.

You thus have money coming out of your ears, so why would you worry when it goes wrong. Just get a new one.
